Mets catch a break: “He was safe all the way. Good for us.” - Mets catcher Henry Blanco said, grinning.

Here’s what happened. With the score tied 3-3, Freddy Sanchez hit a chopper to third off Francisco Rodriguez, and David Wright threw home. Ishigawa slid under Blanco’s tag, but Cuzzi called him out, and the game continued… Mets went on to win 4-3.  NYDailynews

Phil Cuzzi had to be escorted out of the game with protection. The call was wrong, but needing that level of security is wrong as well. It’s time to bring replay to the sport. Not just for the players, but so umpires don’t need to be escorted to their cars. Put a fifth ump in the booth and let him watch the replay with his voice the deciding vote.

Ok, I’m gonna rant. Fuck instant replay. Its total crap. The last thing baseball need is more instant replay. I fought the homerun calls, but I’ve basically accepted it at this point. Almost nothing (except perfect games that is) in life is perfect…why should baseball plays be any different? Baseball has managed to stay pure in this over technical age. Life is what it is….players make stupid base-running errors, managers misplay their outfields, pitchers throw fastballs down the middle of the plate, umps make bad calls. Yeah, it sucks when your team is on the short stick of a bad call. It sucks a lot. But that’s life. You deal with it. You come back the next pitch/batter/inning/game and you do it better. You work harder so any mistake won’t cause you to lose the game. You don’t get any re-do’s in life, why should baseball be any different? And if you suck it up, and deal with what the games given you that day in the ballpark, just life in life, you’ll be rewarded. Karma will come back around, and in the end, it’ll all balance out. *sigh* Done.

Karma?  Good things come to those who wait?  Sucks to be you, city of Cleveland! As a Cubs fan, I can tell you re-dos have all ready existed in baseball (so the fact people are waving off the idea of not allowing replay is bit odd for me).  And, the 2007 Padres would probably like to have instant replay because, unfortunately for them, their next game didn’t come until April (what a long wait inbetween games to make up for a season-ending play that was not their fault whatsoever.)
